Georgian Brass Square Grilles - Specifying
(Any combination of Square Size, Rosette Style and Mesh can be chosen)
If you cannot see your desired combination above, you can specify your Georgian brass preference using the following notation:

Grille Style and Finish / Square Size / Rosette Style and Layout / Backing Mesh and Finish
(See example grille references above)

Select from:

Georgian Brass = GGB
(Natural brass is a satin brass finish with a clear lacquer protection unless requested otherwise.)

Plating and treatments available:
Georgian Polished Nickel = GGNK
Georgian Satin Nickel  = GGSNK
(Satin nickel is more dull and greyer than polished nickel. Nickel has a slight golden tinge in certain lights)
Georgian Bronze = GGBZ
(Bronze is an abbreviation of Bronze Metal Antique, BMA, which is an even satin black finish. It is effectively an all black finish.)
Georgian Polished Chrome = GGCH
Georgian Satin Chrome = GGSCH
(Satin chrome is still bright but is not the mirror finish of polished chrome.)
Georgian Antiqued Brass = GGAB
(Antique brass is a dark brown finish with flecks of natural brass showing through on the foreground square. The backing mesh is an even dark brown.)

Georgian Pewter = GGPT
(Pewter is a dark grey finish with flecks of silver showing through on the foreground square. The backing mesh is an even black.)

Georgian Antique Copper = GGAC
(Antique copper is a dark copper colour with black flecks on the foreground square. The backing mesh is an even black.)

(Unless specially agreed otherwise, rosettes / rivets will always be the same finish choice as the square.)

All Rivets = RIV

All Plain = PLR

*Alternate Plain = APLR

All Floral = FLR

*Alternate Floral = AFLR

All Oxford = OXR

*Alternate Oxford = AOXR

All Honeycomb = HOR

*Alternate Honeycomb = AHOR

*Georgian grille alternate rosette placement is not on an alternate line basis as with Regency grilles but on a "hit and miss" basis.
On each horizontal line there will be rosette, then rivet, then rosette, then rivet.
The next line will be offset to interleave this as shown below:

+    O    +    O    +    O
O    +    O    +    O    +
+    O    +    O    +    O

No Mesh = NM

Fine = FM
(Also sold separately and can be viewed here)

Large = LM
(Also sold separately and can be viewed here)

Add the following suffix for more options:
Stainless Steel - SS
Chrome  - CH
Satin Chrome - SCH
Antique Brass - AB
Bronze - BZ
Nickel - NK
Satin Nickel - SNK
e.g.
Fine Stainless Steel Mesh = FM-SS

Please Note that backing meshes do not match the foreground square finish for all design combinations. E.g. an all Antique Brass grille will have an even dark brown backing mesh and an all Antique Copper grille backing mesh is an even black.
Please see the descriptions in the left column labelled "Choose Grille & Finish".
(Only when the foreground square and backing mesh differ will the backing finish be as described as it can be processed individually before attaching.)

Notes:
Plating and treatments are processes that increases price and delivery time.

You may also choose contrasts of the above finishes.

Notes:
Our Georgian Brass grilles are polished and lacquered to maintain their appearance and resist any possible tarnishing.

Additional Information - Technical, Construction and Fitting:

  • Maximum size of any Georgian Square grille is 1600mm x 900mm
  • Georgian brass grilles are manufactured symmetrically about the horizontal and vertical centre lines. Same design grilles will therefore pattern match when fitted adjacent to each other along the same centre line (when manufactured on the same order).
  • Your decorative grille will be manufactured to the size requested. We do not add any additional amount to fix through at the edges to secure behind your opening. You will need to include this in your required dimensions. (We would recommend approx. 10 to 15mm all around, in a typical application.)
  • To allow flush fixing behind an aperture, rosettes are replaced by rivets if they would fall within approx. 20mm of the grille edge.
  • To install, simply use a small screw and washer though the backing mesh at the rear edge, at approx. 40mm intervals. There is no need to rebate the grille behind the opening unless the rear will be visible and you wish to provide a neater finish. You may however, fit how you wish. No fixings, beading or framing is supplied. Grille edges are left as "raw" cut edges and are not intended for display.
  • The depth of this grille at the edge, is approx. 5mm, depending on your style choices. (3mm square brass rod + mesh backing at 0.5mm or 1mm (fine/large) + a possible rivet head with it's turned down pin at the rear. Total = approx. 5mm). At the point of a rosette, depth is approx. 6mm.
  • Please note that this style of grille has one displayable face and is constructed using traditional methods. The rear of the grille contains pins from your chosen rosette/rivet which secure the lattice construction and hold the backing mesh in place (if specified). Rosette/rivet pins by design have points which are turned down flush to the rear. This may be a consideration for you depending on your application.
    Please
CLICK HERE to view the rear of an example Regency diamond brass grille which is of similar construction.
(Not all pins penetrate the backing mesh which is due to the stages required in the build up of the product and is normal)
  • Some finishes are applied by hand, may vary from images and cannot be made to match exactly to previous orders of the same finish.

Additional Helpful Information:
The biggest factor that affects pricing for this product is square size. The smaller the square, the more brass and labour is involved in manufacture. Prices can therefore vary considerably upon this choice.
The second biggest factor that affects pricing for this product is adding a plating or treatment finish to the brass. This will also increase delivery timescales.
Large and Fine weave backing mesh are equally priced.
Rosette designs are equally priced. Rivets are less expensive.
Alternate rosettes are less expensive than rosettes on every crossing.

Please note that this style of grille has one good face. The rear of the grille contains pins from your chosen rosette/rivet which secure the lattice construction and if specified, hold the backing mesh in place. Rosette/rivet pins by design have points which are turned down flush to the rear.
